Enterprise Community Healthy Start continues to stay busy in Burke and McDuffie Counties working to make a difference in the lives of families is through the collective efforts of many.

September was Infant Mortality Awareness Month. We honored babies who did not live to see their first birthday. We want all babies to be able to Celebrate Day 366, their first birthday.

McDuffie County

ECHS staff and Healthy Start families gathered together on September 17, 2016 to release balloons in memory of and to honor these babies. In memory of her son, a Healthy Start mother shared the story of her infant son who died before his first birthday. "There isn’t a day I don’t think about him. Every year I plan something special on his birthday."

Burke County

ECHS staff was a participating partner in the annual Bird Dog Breakaway Run on September 24, 2016. Proceeds from the event benefited the Center for New Beginnings, which provides services, resources and support to children with special needs. We shared information to raise awareness about the rates of Infant Mortality in Burke County. In addition prevention and risk reduction strategies were discussed.

On Saturday, October 29, 2016 ECHS participated in an annual event sponsored by Birth Without Birth. Birth Without Birth is a non-profit group led by Quana Scott-Lewis to support families who have experienced the loss of an infant/child. Key messages included prevention, risk reduction, the importance of support from many when a child dies, and that the child will live in a family’s memories.

Welcome

Welcome to Enterprise Community Healthy Start, where our primary concern is with the well being of mothers and children. We are here as a community driven approach to reduce infant mortality rates (death rate). We are committed to assist in the improvement of the quality of life as well as promoting and teaching healthy lifestyles.

America’s future will be determined by what we do to improve the health of mothers, children, and families. Infant mortality remains a tragic problem that can be solved only if all community leaders, businesses, health care professionals, and policymakers work together to find solutions. Enterprise Community Healthy Start can help you if you are planning to get pregnant, are pregnant or you’ve just had a baby. We can help you find special health services for yourself, your baby or teen child.
