Partner Spotlight

Ms. Carolyn Andrews, a native of Alabama, has lived in McDuffie County since 1976 and has worked with the Housing Authority for the past 11 years. She currently holds the positions of Occupancy Clerk as well as Tenant Service Worker, in which she works to process applications for housing and organizing activities for residents of the community. She has been a partner with Enterprise Community Healthy Start since 2000.

Ms. Andrews is a current member of the ECHS consortium and attends the quarterly consortium sessions held each year. In the past, she has partnered with ECHS to host Woman 2 Woman discussion groups within the Housing Authority. She hopes to be able to work with ECHS in the future to sponsor more activities regarding women’s health.

Ms. Andrews is actively involved in sponsoring educational activities in which the residents of the Housing Authority can participate. She partners with UGA extension to provide nutrition classes for the residents. She has also coordinated programs in which representatives from Wellcare and Medicare were able to update the residents on the recent changes that were made regarding Medicaid and Medicare coverage. Another program on which she is working to bring to her residents is a smoking cessation series for women in public housing to be sponsored by the Medical College of Georgia.

Ms. Andrews values the education of the community regarding health and wellness. She states “People who are educated are better people”, and the work she does at the Housing Authority is an illustration that goes with that statement. We are happy to partner with Ms. Andrews and look forward to working with her in the future.
